Everyone can get a little nervous sometimes, particularly when attending an important interview. Don’t let anxiety get the better of you, here are three easy relaxation tips for any interview:
Take a deep breath
A great way to relax is to control your breathing. Why? Because controlled breathing soothes your nervous system, results are almost immediate. Try inhaling for three seconds and then exhaling for three more and repeating two to four more times. Keeping count gives you something to focus on, while also having a calming influence over the body.
Put in your headphones
Listening to calming music, or tunes that you find soothing, is a great way to relax. If you are not able to use your headphones, try listening to the ambient sounds around you, such as birdsong or the murmur of conversations and really focus on the sounds around you alone.
Take a walk
If you have time before the interview starts, it might help to stroll around the block or step outside for some air. While doing so, you can combine steps one and two, focus on your breathing while walking and be mindful of what is going on around you. Whatever puts you in a great mood will work to reduce stress levels, so a little exercise is always recommended.
We hope that the above will help you to cut down on anxiety and do well in your interview. If you would like help with finding a job, or to discover more interviewing techniques, speak to one of Kingsley’s experienced recruitment consultants today.
