Would you like to work for one of the best consultancies in the world? We are looking to appoint an Associate Building Surveyor to join an outstanding team. This is a critical appointment, which offers versatility and the opportunity to progress to Director within a relatively short time-frame.
The role involves working with a diverse portfolio of investor clients and collaborating with various internal departments to provide comprehensive and commercial advice related to building surveying and consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reinstatement Cost Assessments: Coordinate and deliver large portfolios of Reinstatement Cost Assessments, which involve determining the estimated cost of rebuilding a property in case of damage or destruction.
- Building Inspections and Reports: Conduct inspections of buildings, assess their condition, and prepare detailed reports outlining findings and recommendations.
- Contract Administration: Prepare specifications for repair and refurbishment contracts, and administer these contracts to ensure work is carried out in accordance with agreed terms.
- Dilapidations and Exit Strategies: Prepare and negotiate schedules of dilapidations, which outline necessary repairs or refurbishments required at the end of a lease term.
- Planned Preventative Maintenance: Develop plans for scheduled maintenance to ensure the long-term integrity and functionality of buildings.
- Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments: Undertake assessments to estimate the cost of reinstating a building to its original condition, often for insurance purposes.
- Portfolio Coordination: Assist in coordinating portfolio instructions and collaborate with various internal departments to provide comprehensive services to clients.
- Client Relationships: Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both external and internal clients, offering professional and excellent client service.
- Travel and Business Development: Be open to travel as required by the role and engage in business development activities, including direct client interaction at a senior level.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Team Player and Initiative: Ability to work effectively within a team and independently, demonstrating enthusiasm, proactivity, and self-motivation.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to maintain excellent client interactions.
- Time Management and Organization: Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Presentation and Professionalism: Well-presented with excellent presentation skills, reflecting a professional and client-focused demeanor.
- Qualifications: MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) with a specialisation in building surveying, along with proven experience, preferably with post-qualification experience (PQE) in a commercial consultancy.
- Technical Competence: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience in AutoCAD considered an advantage.
