Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Meet Our Recruiter
About the Role
Some Quantity Surveying roles are about maintaining the status quo.
This isn't one of them.
We're working with a growing and highly respected consultancy in Shropshire that has built an excellent reputation through repeat business, long-standing client relationships, and delivering projects the right way. As demand continues to grow, they are looking to add an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to their team.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, taking ownership, and making a genuine contribution to a business that's going places.
Whether your background is consultancy or contractor-side, what matters most is your commercial understanding, your attitude, and your willingness to roll your sleeves up and get involved.
The Opportunity
Working closely with an experienced senior professional, you'll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from early-stage cost advice and procurement through to final account settlement.
You'll be involved in:
- Cost planning, estimating, and tender preparation
- Measurement and preparation of Bills of Quantities
- Procurement advice and tender analysis
- Cost reporting, valuations, variations, and change management
- Supporting contract administration and project delivery
- Working directly with clients, contractors, and project teams
- Helping to identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout projects
Projects are varied, challenging, and offer excellent exposure across multiple sectors.
Who They're Looking For
They're seeking someone with a bit of drive. Someone with commercial instinct. Someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do.
You'll likely have:
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Strong measurement and BoQ preparation skills
- A good understanding of procurement and commercial management
- Confidence communicating with clients and project stakeholders
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your workload
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach
MRICS status is welcomed but by no means essential. Equally, experience within infrastructure, utilities, or M&E projects would be advantageous but isn't a prerequisite.
Why Join?
Because you'll be joining a business where you'll be noticed.
You'll work alongside experienced professionals who are invested in your development, gain exposure to a broad range of projects, and have genuine opportunities to progress as the business continues to grow.
There is no rigid corporate structure, no getting lost in a large team, and no waiting years for your next opportunity.
Just good projects, good people, and the chance to build a rewarding long-term career.
Package
- Competitive salary dependent on experience
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- Mentorship and support from experienced professionals
- Genuine progression opportunities
- Broad project exposure across a diverse client base
