About the Role
Senior Associate / Associate Director – Quantity Surveying
Shropshire | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Benefits + Potential Equity
Reference: CK3687503
This is an opportunity for an established consultancy professional who is looking for something different from the traditional corporate environment.
With an established client base, a strong pipeline of work and ambitious plans for growth, the business offers the opportunity to take ownership, influence
decisions and contribute directly to its future direction.
Small enough for your contribution to make a genuine difference, yet ambitious enough to offer significant long-term career opportunities.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Managing Director, you will play a key role in the delivery and development of the consultancy's Quantity Surveying and commercial management services.
The business operates across infrastructure, utilities, energy and renewable energy projects, supporting clients on technically challenging and commercially demanding programmes.
This is a hands-on, client-facing leadership appointment, offering considerable autonomy and the opportunity to become involved in areas beyond traditional project delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing Quantity Surveying commissions, providing high-quality commercial and contractual advice.
- Managing pre- and post-contract services across a range of projects.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
- Managing, mentoring and supporting the development of a small but growing team.
- Taking ownership of project delivery, commercial performance and client satisfaction.
- Identifying opportunities to develop new client relationships and expand the consultancy's services.
- Contributing to business strategy, operational improvements and future recruitment.
- Working directly with the Managing Director to support the continued growth and development of the business.
About You
We are particularly interested in speaking with Chartered Quantity Surveyors currently operating at Senior Associate or Associate Director level, or experienced senior consultants ready to take that next step.
The following criteria are essential:
- MRICS qualified – Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
- Proven Quantity Surveying experience gained within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical expertise across pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying services.
- Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge, ideally including NEC contracts.
- The ability to manage client relationships and deliver commissions independently.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach, with the confidence to take responsibility and make decisions.
Experience within infrastructure, utilities, energy or renewables would be advantageous, although we are equally interested in individuals with transferable consultancy experience and the ambition to develop within these sectors.
Previous experience of managing or mentoring colleagues would also be beneficial.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is technically capable, commercially astute, personable and ambitious, with the desire to contribute to the wider success of a growing business.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
For many experienced Quantity Surveyors, career progression within a large consultancy can mean increasing layers of management, less autonomy and limited involvement in wider business decisions.
This opportunity offers something different.
You will be joining a consultancy where your ideas will be heard, your experience valued and your contribution will have a direct impact on the future of the business.
The role offers:
- Genuine autonomy to manage your workload, clients and commissions.
- Direct access to the Managing Director, with involvement in key business decisions.
- The opportunity to influence how the consultancy operates, develops and grows.
- A varied and interesting workload across infrastructure, utilities and energy-related projects.
- The chance to help develop a team and contribute to the future shape of the business.
- A collaborative, entrepreneurial working environment without unnecessary corporate bureaucracy.
- Significant long-term career progression as the consultancy expands.
- Potential future equity participation for the right individual.
This is an opportunity for a Chartered Quantity Surveyor who enjoys the technical and commercial aspects of the profession but also wants the freedom, responsibility and opportunity to make a broader contribution.
If you are looking for a position where you can have real input, take ownership and help shape the future of an ambitious consultancy, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
