About the Role
Role Overview
Kingsley is working in Partnership with Tatton Estate in seeking a proactive and experienced Development Surveyor/Manager to support the Head of Development in delivering a diverse and ambitious portfolio of development projects across the Estate. This role will be instrumental in progressing projects from inception through to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, sustainability standards, and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Management
- Support the preparation and delivery of Development Briefs for all major projects.
- Assist in managing projects through the full lifecycle: inception, planning, promotion, disposal/development, and completion.
- Coordinate with consultants, agents, and legal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and KPIs.
- Preferred experience of working with land management and promotion agreements as part of project delivery and development coordination.
- Preferred experience of preparing sites for development, including coordinating pre-commencement requirements, infrastructure considerations and consultant inputs.
- Planning & Strategy
- Support feasibility assessments for change of use and small site opportunities.
- Assist in preparing masterplans and development frameworks for strategic sites.
- Knowledge of land management and promotion agreements would be advantageous, particularly in shaping planning strategy and site promotion.
- Experience of helping to ready sites for development would be beneficial, including the coordination of surveys and early-stage enabling work.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with development partners, consultants, and local authorities.
- Support the Head of Development in Trustee reporting and stakeholder communications.
- Maintain and update standard documents including the Approved Consultants List, Trustee Consultation Tracker, and Quarterly Project Update Reports.
- Financial Oversight
- Assist in preparing financial appraisals of developments and tracking budget across projects to ensure professional consultant spend aligns with approved budgets.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified in Real Estate, Planning, Development, or a related field.
- Proven experience in property development, surveying, or project management.
- Strong understanding of planning processes and development appraisals.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
Desirable Attributes
- RICS or RTPI accreditation (or working towards).
- Experience in rural or estate development.
- Familiarity with grey belt and green belt planning policy.
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and legacy development principles.
