We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Special Projects Manager to join the Estates/Facilities Management team and drive forward an ambitious energy-saving initiatives and construction projects.

Position Overview:

As a Special Projects Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and implementing a range of special projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, sustainability, and facility improvements across the portfolio. This multifaceted role will involve managing projects such as solar PV installation, LED lighting upgrades, water-saving initiatives, and various construction projects including room modifications and roof repairs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for sustainability, a proven track record in project management within the healthcare sector, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of special projects aimed at improving energy efficiency and facility enhancements. Manage the implementation of solar PV installations on the roofs of three homes as a pilot project, including coordination with external contractors and internal stakeholders. Oversee the transition to LED lighting and water-saving measures across all facilities, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Coordinate with the Estates and Development teams to manage small construction projects, including room consolidations and major roof repairs. Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, address any issues or concerns, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting project milestones, achievements, and areas for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in project management, preferably within the healthcare sector, with a focus on energy-saving initiatives and facility enhancements. Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, LED lighting technologies, and water-saving measures. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and regulatory authorities. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience in budget management, cost control, and financial analysis. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in construction and facilities management. PMP or Prince2 certification is desirable but not essential.
