About the Role

Are you a dynamic and experienced professional in CDM (Construction Design and Management)? Do you thrive on leading teams and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety in design and construction projects? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

About the Role:

As the National Lead CDM Principal Designer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing health and safety during the pre-construction phase of projects across the UK. Working within a consultancy environment, you will ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, champion best practices, and lead a collaborative approach to safety and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Leadership: Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase, incorporating relevant information, such as existing health and safety files.
  • Client Advisory: Support and advise clients in collating pre-construction information and ensure designers and contractors have the information needed to fulfil their roles.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with designers to identify and eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks, and where elimination is not possible, take steps to mitigate or control risks.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Foster effective communication and cooperation among all stakeholders during the pre-construction phase, ensuring work is well-coordinated.
  • Principal Contractor Liaison: Maintain proactive communication with the principal contractor, highlighting and addressing risks that need to be managed during the construction phase.
  • Business Development: We are looking to grow our service offering across both new and existing clients

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Principal Designer under CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety management in construction, including hazard identification and risk management.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence multi-disciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and cooperation.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, APS membership, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
  • A track record in developing and leading a  team

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a leading consultancy with a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Opportunity to lead and shape CDM practices on high-profile projects nationwide.
  • Flexible working options, with the choice to be based in London or Manchester.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including opportunities for professional development.

If you are passionate about creating safer environments and have the skills to lead in this critical area, we’d love to hear from you!
